Sacred Oz Productions are a small, Independent self funded documentary film company. The two people behind and in front of the camera are Michael Butler and Samantha Martin, they both have now produced several broadcast documentaries around the World over a period of 10 years.
Their films have been broadcasted on the Discovery Channel, The National Geographic Channel, ABC TV - Message Stick Program and NITV (National Indigenous TV). One of their most popular films titled “The Message Stick” is currently being screened on Emirates Airlines and NITV.
Michael and Samantha’s mission is to continue educating the wider community about cultural diversities and issues.
As Independent filmmakers, Michael Butler and Samantha Martin are in production of filming a 13 part 1/2 hour Series titled The Bush Tukka Woman, based on traditional and modern ways of hunting and cooking Australian foods from a woman’s perspective and also from an Indigenous perspective.
Michael Butler started his film career in New York and has travelled the world filming cultural documentaries. He has a great respect for these ancient Indigenous peoples of the World.
Samantha Martin is a cultural and modern woman who has learn’t how to merge the two Worlds. She is the host of the new 13 part series and comes from a long line of traditional Elders. Born in the remote East Kimberley Region, Samantha offers beauty and culture to the production company.
The Message Stick is used as Sacred Oz Production’s Travelling Educational Aboriginal Multimedia Program (TEAM) . After modifying and adding modern day technology in this 50 year old Ex Army Ambulance vehicle, it is used as their home and production vehicle and as an important tool to film in remote and isolate areas of the Australian Outback.
